This project is created for the course DEA 1110. The focus of this assignment is to display the process of brainstorming and design decision making.

I have a hobby of running at night but worry about the darkness and cars. So I ideated a headlight tattoo that absorbs solar energy and illuminates darkness at night. With my experience attending awkward lectures, I also designed a tattoo amplifier that broadcasts clapping sound. It detects pressure and makes a loud clapping sound so that instructors can be motivated. Inspired by the pandemic life, my final idea is a tattoo is designed to help people interact with physical buttons by touching their own hand. After connecting, an interface can be seen on the right hand. I believe this is the most useful idea to promote well-being for most people.

To think about how robotics can improve furniture, I look at my everyday life. I always feel that I am not sitting straight and keeping an adequate distance from screens. Maybe a robot arm that adjusts my body posture can help. I am also having trouble doing garbage classification so I came up with a robot trash bin that distributes it for me. Finally, I decided to go with a bed alarm. It wakes me up by slowly lifting me to a sitting position. Waking up naturally will be possible with this design. Sleeping is such an important part of health that I think this is my best idea.

Environmental visualization has endless possibilities. My daily biking experience helps me come up with the idea of displaying air pollution with colors on bikes. People can be encouraged to commute by bike if they see how bad the air quality is. Another idea visualizes harmful UV lights. By demonstrating real-time UV level on hats, users change their outdoor behavior to reduce skin damage. My favorite idea is demonstrating air pollution level with phone cases because I want to remind people of this issue. These cases change their texture, pattern, color regularly to help people keep track of air quality and change their behaviors. I decided to go with this because it is both accessible and interesting.
